This page (https://www.invoiceninja.com/knowledge-base/importing-data-from-wave/) outlines the steps to import data from Wave.
Wave exports include a csv file titled accounting.csv. This seems to include all transactions from the accounts that I had attached to Wave.
I’m looking to better understand whether I should import this in order to get my expense transactions into IN from Wave rather than manually enter them. I only really need to do this for the current financial year and moving forward. There are a lot of transactions in there that are not business expenses (personal expenses/owner drawings/transfers etc)

    Can someone clarify please?

Wave is an accounting app whereas Invoice Ninja is an invoicing app, you can import your invoices from Wave but not all of the transactions.

So I should manually enter my expenses for the period if I want to produce reports at tax time?

You may be able to use the CSV expense import
